Nope, it’s not about kids having super packed timetable for their holidays; that’s way past my era. If anyone has read the BIG NEWS on page 8 of Sunday Times, they would know what I’m talking about. It’s about… “New Hip Stores Coming to Orchard Road”, as the headlines on the front page aptly described.
New malls, duplexes, boutiques, brands etc etc. Gosh! Just thinking of it makes me feel dizzy with happiness! I can just imagine Orchard Road as a dazzling place with lots of shiny malls and fashionistas waiting to see and be seen!
There’s major fashion houses like Christian Dior, LV, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Giorgio Armani etc opening new stores. High fashion ones; Bread & Butter, Tru Trussardi and more. Cartier, Mauboussin and Kim Robinson to finish up the look by providing jewellery, watches and the perfect hairdo!
Here comes the exciting part… New stores!
How does Christian Louboutin sound to you? Just Cavalli? Marc by Marc Jacobs? Club Monaco? Anya Hindmarch? Juicy Couture? (Eeeks!)
But the ones that really excite me are…
Firstly, Sephora! I’ve heard rave reviews about their cosmetics and the only way I could get them is to beg any of my friends who travel to the US to buy some back for me (but most of them peeps have never even heard of the brand. God forgive them!) I can’t wait to get my eyes on the lip and cheek stain that I’ve heard lots of netizens praise to the heavens!
For clothes, there’s Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto! Finally! After seeing loads of fakes during my stint in China; I can’t wait to see the real ones! Though I’ld wish they would bring in more of his works, including his main line and his daughter, Limi Feu’s designs. And also GF Ferre!!! The more youthful line from Gianfranco Ferre.
Lastly, nice watches from Bell & Ross, Swiss watchmaker. Their watches are classic pieces that are youthful, yet has an understated luxurious feel.
And if the above is not good news enough, here’s a surprise. Ion Orchard and Paragon still have not release a statement regarding the new (or in Paragon’s case) revamped list of brands they’ll be housing. Of course, there’ll be a Uniqlo and H&M somewhere. And I hope a Vivienne Westwood, Luella, Zucca and MerciBeaucoup in future…
Changes to be anticipated in Mandarin Gallery, Paragon, Takashimaya. New malls; Ion Orchard and Orchard Central coming up! At this rate, I’m really looking forward to the future Orchard Road! Looks like there is still hope for fashion in Singapore!
